The Victoria Clark Show
For Music Teachers
This is the podcast for music teachers who are tired of chasing payments, saying yes when they mean no, and feeling like their teaching life is running them rather than the other way around.
Each episode digs into the real challenges of the teaching life and how to make things work better for you.
Episode 13: When A Student Quits, It’s Rarely About You. Here’s What To Do
Losing students is a normal part of running a studio. Here's how to handle it calmly, fairly and professionally.
Episode 12: You’re Not An Average Teacher, So Stop Charging An Average Rate
Why an average rate is only ever a starting point, and how to work out what you should actually be charging.
Episode 11: What Makes a Good Music Teacher?
A good teacher for one student can be the wrong teacher for another. This episode looks at what shapes whether you're a good fit, beyond the numbers teachers usually reach for.
Episode 10: You Are A Professional Music Teacher
Professionalism isn't about qualifications, it's about how you conduct yourself and the standards you hold. This episode looks at what that means in practice for a self-employed music teacher.
Episode 9: Do You Even Need A Website? Here’s What It’s Costing You
Do you even need a website? It is a fair question if word of mouth has worked for you so far. In this episode I give you my honest answer, and share what changed when I rewrote my own website to attract my ideal students.
Episode 8: I Don’t Work Late and I Don’t Work Weekends: Here’s How
Working more hours is not the answer. In this episode I talk through how I protect my evenings and weekends, and the admin and planning systems that stop work creeping into every spare hour. Honest, specific, and practical.
